ARTIST BIO
All About Chrissy Dwyer Art
I am a contemporary acrylic painter living in Toowoomba, QLD, Australia.
My landscapes are inspired by where I live, a sub-tropical and semi-arid environment of the Darling Downs. I love the countryside and country bush. My colour palette explores earthy colours of shades of greens and blues along with orche with pops of magenta. Sometimes my style is semi-realistic and semi-impressionistic as I love to exaggerate colour with an aim to capture the essence of the subject matter.
Currently, I am is interested in the interplay between light and shadows, exploring aerial perspective as well as the liminal space between landscape and still life.

My artistic journey has always been there, but as you can imagine, having a family and working full-time is a juggle.
Recently I organised and participated in a group Art Teacher exhibition at Rosalie Gallery, QLD in 2023 with another show rescheduled for Jan-Feb in 2026.
Notable achievements include being selected as a finalist in the Salon des Refuses [Online] Lethbridge 20 000 Small Art Award, Lethbridge Gallery (2024), and in the Lethbridge 10 000 Small Scale Award in 2016 and 2015; a Finalist in the Open Category, Independent Education Union Awards in Excellence for Art and Design (2027); the Moreton Bay Regional Art Awards in 2014 and 2013, and Queensland Regional Art Awards and Boarder Art Prize in 2011. As well, I have had a feature articles published in Artist Palette in 2010, Australian Artist Magazine and Fine Art and Decorative Painting magazine in 2012 and 2011.

I am a qualified Visual Arts Teacher with a Graduate Diploma of Education. I have my Bachelor of Creative Industries (2009) and Diploma of Visual Arts (2007). Prior to teaching, I worked as an Education & Professional Development Coordinator at Flying Arts Alliance Inc. My most recent exhibition was a group teacher exhibition at Rosalie Gallery, QLD.
